  • SHS is moving to an electronic referral form.  If you are a parent or guardian that has an email account, would you please make sure that the front office has an updated account (not a student's account).  For those parent/guardian accounts we will send those referrals electronically.  If you do not have an account, they will continue to be mailed home.

  • Welcome to our new site.  Please pardon the dust as we put the finishing touches on things.

Media Center News

The end of the school year is fast approaching and all are ready for summer vacation.  To help our students retain what they have learned, we encourage them to read, review, and explore. The public libraries in the area are open for all to use. You may sit and read a magazine, newspaper, book, listen to audio books, and Wabash now has ebooks available for check out. In this fast paced world, we can lose sight of reading. Encourage your student to put down the phone and pick up a book- even if it’s for 15 minutes a day!
“Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader”- Margaret Fuller
“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”-Joseph Addison
The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins is the most popular read of 2011-2012. We cannot keep them on the shelves and it’s exciting to know that students are excited and engaged in reading because of these books. We encourage our students to stop in the Library before or after school to check out, return books, or take Reading Counts quizzes.   Students with study halls are allowed to use the library to check out books or sit and read a magazine during that time. All books check out for 2 weeks, but can be renewed to extend the check-out period. Any book not returned or renewed after 3 weeks will accrue a fine of $.05 per day up to $2.00 per item. All library materials will be due Friday, May 11, 2012. After that magazines will be available for students during Silent Sustained Reading time. The cost of the book will be charged to the student for any item not returned by the last day of school.
Congratulations go out to the 2012 Battle of the Books team. They were able to bring home the trophy for the seventh year in a row. Way to go!
